Automated Glassworking Lathes:
|
Litton Engineering
has pioneered the development of machine controls for the glass
working lathe. By introducing computer controls to the glassworking
process consistent accuracy in a repeated application can be achieved
and in less time than if it had been performed manually.
The Litton Automated Glass Lathe offers computer
control of the firecarriage and tailstock travel, the gas delivery,
spindle pressure and vacuum systems, chucking, tooling and the
spindle motor. Many configurations and levels of automation are
possible, from semi-automated to fully automated.
Litton pioneered the fully automated lathe with
the 9665 controller, a full multitasking motor control system
in 1977. Today Litton has developed the GlassMaker System. GlassMaker
is comprised of multiprocessors which combined with the GlassMaker
software comprise a fully automated system unequaled in the glassblowing
industry
